After 11 years together we finally did it, we got married on 10-10-2019! We never really made it a priority, but it was always in our mind to do it eventually ^__^ Of course I had to make my own wedding dress, since I already knew exactly how I wanted it to be and how cool would it be to make it yourself ♥ it had to be perfect!
I started with a concept drawing/design, finding the perfect fabrics and a collage of inspiration of other dresses I liked. Since I really love medieval/fantasy themes and stories I chose a model that is heavily based on that, it would be 200% a dress I would feel comfortable with. I made a prototype first to figure out the patterns before we start working with the chosen materials. It was a really big project that took allot of time and effort (especially with a baby crawling around), but it was totally worth it! I'm happy I did it ❤️
Since we got married during the fall season, it can be pretty cold so I also made a matching cape with a woolen lining. I also made a belt with laces to wear on my waist to complete the look. My husband was wearing a blouse and a brown gilet that we bought from a Keltic store, so I made my son who was just a baby back then a baby gilet to match with our wedding outfits. He was like a little version of my husband!
I am really proud and happy I made my own wedding dress (and with the help of my mom ♥) even though I didn't have allot of experiencing making these type of clothing. Since I mainly make onesies and working with fleece. Working with fabrics like this beautiful lace and linen fabrics was a challenge, but the final result is beautiful! And since it's custom made for my body, it fits perfect! I really love it and can't wait to wear it again sometime, just for fun during a fair of some kind ^___^
