**Giggles!**
Over the past year, my fellow employees and my friends have been helping me get back and forth to the hospital, several doctors's offices, and even to and from work when the need arises. There have been some concern about me biking way too much, especially with me slowly getting older and biking in a few dangerous places in town. The boys at the Saturday Night Tabletop Game have been happily helping out when I would let them, but I'm quite stubborn when it comes to accepting help. I have biked around town with sometimes two of my Apple laptops amd gear for either the game or just some stuff I want to get to the Firm so I can get other things done. I have been telling people that the reason I do this is to help keep in shape, keeping the glucose levels better, my blood pressure level or lower, and generally because I love biking. But, I have to admit that I'm starting to hurt. The bike could use some TLC, perhaps dropping it off at the bike shop around the corner for a few days so they can tune it up ... the chain is the main concern, but I should get some lights for the bike and a new seat because my backside doesn't have all the padding that it used to have.
A few people have said, "You need to think about getting a new car." I usually would laugh this off by saying that I damned well didn't need one. "No car payments, no insurance payments, no gasoline bills, and no other wories like damage to the car because of people either hitting it or whatever whether it be in motion or in the parking lot." This especially gets grumbles from friends of mine, especially when I go into all of the problems I have had with cars in the past. The pick-up truck I got back in 2019 is a good example. It sucked. Oh it was fine for a few months and then it went to hell because the dealership jury-rigged it and put there being an "As Is" clause, which should have told me that I need to walk away.
So, when I thought about getting a Jeep Renegade Sport, like what one of the ladies at the Firm has, I put my name into the finder list and Jeep of Savannah contacted me, wanting me to set up an appointment for today at 2pm. I got there after walking through the area and checking out other dealerships, seeing who's selling what, how much, and stuff like that. After one place was the only other one to talk to me without me having to find someone, I was about turned off on dealerships. No one wanted to come out and say anything, the lots only had a few customers, and I was also reluctant to buy a used car. The Jeep place had a pretty gal who made me think of one of my old girlfriends from way back when and she even giggled like the gal-pal did too. "Hiya and welcome to Jeep!" she announced with a bright smile. "How can I help you today?" I told her that I was here early for an appointment and that I just wanted to hear what whomever had to say and go. She smiled and nodded, taking me inside. Now, I ain't going to lie. I was not really wanting to be there, but I'm a gal of my word. If I say I'm going to be there, I will be there unless I'm dead. So, grudgingly, I sat down and waited for help. Mr. Zack, a really nice fellow came over and started to interview me to see what I was looking for and what he could do. He never said what he could not do, but laughed when I told him my credit was a trainwreck on fire and still exploding. He asked for my driver's licence and social security number and we went from there. He took me out in the little guy you see in the picture and it was a splendid ride, very smooth and good acceleration. With just a couple of grand down, he was able to get me into a 2020 Renegade Jeep for just short of$500 a month. I told him that I would have to think on that because that was a lot of money for a payment and we hadn't even talked insurance yet. After several negotiations and me insisting that it was still too high, he was able to get the fiance manager to agree to just under $400 a month with all of the certifications and warranties that they would gran for such a vehicle. So, I managed to get the insurance for the car at about $131 a month for six months and even work on getting it lowered within three and six months if I can keep a good driving record.
Mm ... I seriously doubt that I will have any regrets as I work on enjoying this new purchase. And even a week before my birthday too!

Thanks, honey! Yes it is. The jeep has all of the bells and whistles that you would expect of a new vehicle and it's got less than twenty thousand miles on it. The salesman asked me to bring it by the dealership on Tuesday to have a few things checked out and made sure of. There were some notifications that I missed in the excitement like an oil change and windshield wiper fluid being low. He thought they weren't anything critical, saying that it had been there at the dealership for about eighty days, so the notifications might only need to be reset. I felt better knowing that it's all going to be taken care of. He also said that he would make sure that everything was extra checked out to be sure.
Now you can grow fat and lazy like the rest of us! One of us! One of us!
But that's great to hear you have a safer way to get around...Do make sure you get a modern powerbank/jump starter for that thing though. No matter how reliable your car is it is ALWAYS helpful to have a jump starter around (I speak from experience).
Also, if you wanted to, and for another option. You could convert your bike with a simple (sounding mind you) kit so that it uses a motor. Then if the car fails for any reason you can use the bike and still get to where you wanted to go in a reasonable amount of time and without overworking yourself.

Mm ... probably not. I still enjoy my bike rides and would love to keep on riding as much as I'm able to.
I think I have one of those back at the Firm that just needs to be charged, but that's also ok since at this time I'm not planning to go too far away from my comfort zone. The insurance also has emergency roadside assistance to help if it comes down to that, plus I still have the bike.
Mm ... not sure if I'm ready for that yet. :)

Mm ... I have to admit that after my first week of driving it to and from work, the new jeep has been quite a blessing. My Big Sister is quite relieved to say the least. She's never been happy about all the biking around town I had done over the past couple of years now. She thinks I'm going to get hurt or worse.
I mean, that IS the job of relatives isn't it? And I definitely get the need for exercise and some excitement. Maybe just biking around the block or two or some risk inserted into your life that isn't as constant so you can get a good mix of fun without worrying them as much as you have would work better.

That's family, honey. And I know. We had the tabletop game and birthday party last night, which was a serious blast. My good friend, the Left Fielder, has always been there for a ride to and from the game, but I'm strongly independent, which the boys get. The Bearded Lantern just quietly reminded me that trying to do all of what I did on my own is kind of what got me into trouble in the first place, but he agreed that he understood. The others stayed out of it, but I know they agreed as well. I have to keep on reminding myself that I'm not a young gal any more, so I need to do things a bit smarter.
