Here's an example of the difference between a snapshot taken on the go while canoing and and tone mapped and color corrected picture.
The lower one shows overexposed and underexposed areas as with and overall washed away look. Even with a good camera, it's was you get with bad lightning if you are not careful, the camera doesn't takes pictures, it's the person holding it who do the job. Buying an expensive camera don't means you get good pictures, it means you can do good pictures more easily but not necessarily.
