I was unsure what to call this piece.
Little Beth has a good reason to be afraid of her bedroom at night. The evidence is right there in this old photograph from 1903 of a Himalayan kitten. Hopefully her doll can protect her.

The figure is believable and realistic. The pose and expression are nice. The wardrobe, set pieces, and setting are all accurate and complimentary. The color scheme is fantastic, especially given the limited pallette. The surface effects and aging are professionally executed, but usually photos from the time period will be quite a bit softer and out of focus. Overall, incredible job! I'm not too familiar with the backstory.
