This song is a gift for
syrrasI hope you like it, I mean every word :3
This was probably one of the most intense things I have ever recorded/edited.
I recorded something like 37 tacks and ended up only using 11 of them. In editing I listened to it like 70 times :( which means I will need like 3 months before I'm able to enjoy listening to it, but I wanted it to be as perfect as I could get it.
I used some new studio effects (new for me anyway) like manual double tracking on vocals and mixing that with some artificial double tracking. I also got a chance to use my new toy! THE MELODIHORN!]
I picked this thing up the other day for like 30 bux at a thrift store and thought it was just the right sound for the solo in this song: http://www.atomicmall.com/view.php?id=479928It sounds just like an accordion but instead of bellows you blow through a tube. This has the benefit of allowing you to use your breathing to do some cool things with the instrument and makes it super portable!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this. I know I wont, at least, not for a while.

LYRICS:
I see the dawning morning light
I see the sunlight shining in for you
Like you do for me
Your lightning smile lights a spark
Deep within my battered heart for you
Don't you see?
I forgot, Just how good it could be
I see the light behind your eyes
More colorful than western skies in the eve
Do you believe?
That you could be the only one
That makes my blood run hot or cold it's true
Its just you
And in you I see all that I could be
I'm just a simple man
I don't have a lot to say or give it's true
Can I be enough for you?
You have my words, you have my soul
you have my body, please don't break my heart
It would tear me apart
And I know, just how hard it would be
These things I say I say for real
I don't think I could lie to you if I tried
I don't wanna try
I love you I need you I can't breath without you
I'll lay in bed for hours without you
you know its true
And that's why, It makes me glad you love me too.
And I know just how good it can be.

Well, That's not surprising. Although this song is original I take inspiration fro a lot of different sources and the instrumentation I use would much more commonly be found in a blue grass or country group. I think Its fun and challenging though to try and use those instruments in some nontraditional ways. It normally ends up sounding pretty cool. I'm glad you liked it:3
I hope to get better and better! Before you know it I'll be a simi-popular furry sensation that will acquire a ball of rabid fanboys and internet stalkers! Oh wait, that was the dream I had last night.
But with any luck I will at least be able to produce some work I can really be proud of that makes people happy and perhaps ends up in a few peoples MP3 players and what not. That is enough to make me happy:)
I'm glad you liked it :) I'm hoping to have another album put together by Rainfurrest. I'll have to find way to sell it without getting in trouble again :P
Also, Syrras isn't the lucky one. I'm lucky to have found a stable relationship like what I have right now. I have been known to have terrible luck when it comes to finding good men, heh, good women for that matter.

Yes. That's actually fairly common practice when micing an acoustic guitar with a single large diaphragm condenser like the one i have.
You place the mic around 6 inches from the neck joint of the guitar and you get a pretty balanced tone. Pointing it at the bridge or sound hole tens to pick up too many weird bass frequencies that wind up distorting the sound a bit or worse sending blasts of air at the mic.
The other typical approach is to do what Colson does and X/Y mic it with two narrow diaphragm condensers. One pointed just below the bridge and one at the 10th or 12th fret. Then you mix those together to get a balanced tone. The one on the neck is all treble and the one on the bridge all bass:) I used to do this with my collection of dynamic mics but i moved away from it when i got my Rode NT-1A
This was a song I did where I was using the X/Y technique as well as a stick on soundboard pickup and the built in undersaddle B-band: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2650963/

*hugs you tight*
I have to admit to you that I have not been paying much attention to my submissions list which is now over 3500. I don't have a lot of time to go over all these when I am on the ships. This one caught my eye because it was your own work, your own words and you own creation. This is certainly not the same Foxy I have heard in the past with the one mic, popsock and recoreding in the cubbyhole of a bedroom.
Drew, I was pleasently surprised by what I heard here. I mean...like...DAMN!!! I am also very happy for you that you have found some stability in your relashionships. This song certainly proves that. I wish you two all the best and much love. See you at RF! }:=)

yeah, I haven't done a recording like that in a while. I have actually been learning quite a bit about mixing and doing post production as well as just some basic recording techniques. I think I have been getting better with every recording I make. It also helps having a decent studio quality mic rather than the radio shack one I had a year ago. There is something to be said for having a ton of new cool instruments around.
I think that the fact that this song was particularly inspired is a big plus. Syrras is wonderful.
Thanks you, I appreciate you taking the time to listen. I know what its like to be overwhelmed with submissions.

I liked it. you did a VERY good job with the finished product.
The vocals and feel of their rhythm reminded me of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lsR3QOHcn0
