One of the most effective ways to permanently kill a vampire is to pierce their heart with a wooden* stake. What nobody ever told you is that a porcupine's quill works just as well. Why would they bother saying it anyway, when there's perfectly good wood just out of almost every window?
* Some sources say it has to be a specific kind of wood, but let's not let details ruin an already medicore joke, shall we?
I have decided to give a name to the porcupne chaacter I thought of earlier. Why Quirinus? Well, as he originally was designed as my alternate fursona (for deatils, see http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4060834/), I thought I'd give him a similar name. I browsed for names beginning with a Q and was surprised to find one not only quite similar, but fitting for a porcupine. See for yourself: http://www.behindthename.com/name/quirinus.
