This is some more studies of my demoness character Ka-Rilka http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4085445 and my favorite skunk Rosemary.
Now of course Ka-Rilka is on an extended sabbatical of sorts from Downstairs, so she has no desire to go around the World advertising this to every mortal she comes across. Therefore she usually assumes the the form of a small feline with cougar-like markings.
Rosemary met Ka-Rilka when they were both attending the same high school. Of course Rosemary was completing her required K thru 12 education, but Ka-Rilka enrolled herself initially just out of curiosity but later found it a fascinating way to study young mortals.
Now Ka-Rilka is technically "off the clock" and therefore is under no obligations to get mortals to sign their souls, or carry out any plans to bring about the demise mortal plane but she is demon of lust. Therefore when she came across Rosemary she took an immediate interest in her. More out of reflex than anything else Ka-Rilka started making plans to seduce the young skunk. She arranged to be in several of her classes. Started to become her friend and began hanging out with her after school. Then something unexpected happened. She actually became friends with her.
This left Ka-Rilka in a quandary. Rosemary knew her only as a fellow female feline classmate, and it had been Ka-Rilka's experience that usually revealing to a mortal you are a demon results in them running and screaming for the nearest exit. But here was a mortal she was genuinely caring about and cared for her. Eventually Ka-Rilka decided to "come out of closet" so to speak and privately told Rosemary what she was. Besides she figured if went badly she could always put a spell on Rosemary to make her forget the whole experience.
Now it would be lie to say Rosemary was unimpressed or unfazed by this revelation, but Ka-Rilka was very happy that her friend not only did not just go hysterical on her or suddenly stop wanting to hang out with her. Instead Rosemary seem to honestly sympathetic to predicament. From this point on they have remained close friends and partners in crime. On campus they became a force to be reckoned with. From the High School Cheerleading squad through to today they've remained friends.

Now, Why is it that Ka-Rilka does not hate everyone on earth for being incorporated while she could not be? Demons also hate us for being created by God, and want to hurt God in their own little way by hurting us. Demons are not cuddly nor friendly, and there is no such thing as "Off the Clock" for them. I shy away from anything Demonic for that reason. Some may say "it's just a story". I think it's playing with an eternal fire that really needs to be kept away from. Just my opinion...
Lovely as always. =) While the sketch in the top right -- with the little (and what my mind is labeling as 'pleather' but my mind is twisty like that*) dresses -- is jaw-dropping, there's something very warm and happy about the one right below it; they're clearly relaxed, enjoying things and hanging out and it gives the two a very... hmm, how to put it... a very comfortable, adorable feeling. =) You'd hardly expect her to actually be from Downstairs.
Is it a trick of the light that she does, or a mind-trick, or actual shapeshifting? I would guess light-illusion or shapeshifting, since electronic surveillance and recording would pick up her wings pretty quickly.

Yes to a certain extent. Inhabitants of downstairs can be as individualistic as mortals or bound by their desires, wants or sins. It depends on what you type you are and what rank. Also it is matter of what you are doing in The World. In Ka-Rilka's case she on liberty under her own discretion. If she was on assignment her handling of Rosemary might have been very different.
