A Friend in the Loch

Stormy Dreams
Thunder rumbled in the sky above and lightning strew across the dark, angry clouds that hung in it. As the surroundings lit up around her she saw a monstrous figure looming over her, she tried to scream but salty water filled her lungs as another wave washed upon her. A slender neck rose at least 15 feet from the surface of the stormy sea tapered by a ridged head and snout, it came closer and as another bolt of lightning lit up the sky rows of sharp teeth that sought to swallow her was the last thing she saw before a large wave tossed her aside…
Jenna found herself sprawled on the hard, cold floor of her small cabin, the sea outside mirrored the nightmare she had been woken from. Getting to her feet she searched for the switch, shielding her eyes as light filled her quarters. Ever since she had set foot on the ‘LOCH’S DESTINY’ Jenna had been having the same dream, it always ended with her about to be eaten by some large monstrous form. She had asked the captain’s wife about it and she simply muttered about some prehistoric monster in a lake said to live within the Loch Ness, a lake in the Scottish Highlands.
Scotland was where Jenna was heading, as it were, to visit a friend who lived not far from the famed lake. She had heard all the stories about the Loch Ness Monster but hardly believed such a creature could be alive. Her friend however, more than believed in it. Ashley had collected all she could on ‘Nessie’ since she was a child, claimed to have seen it more than once but Jenna told her that it was the constant fog clogging her brain making her see things.
As the small craft pulled closer to the port, the sun began to break through the mist that hung in a thick layer just above the waters around them, making eerie forms cast on the surface. She could see a lone figure pacing, waiting and Jenna knew it was her friend; no one else would be so meticulous in the way they strode back and forth across the wooden boards of the dock. The closer the small craft drew she could see the excitement upon Ashley’s face as she waved both arms about. “Jenna! Jenna, well it’s a bout bloody time, I’ve been standing here for a good hour freezing my arse off.” Her friend said getting a stern look from the captain as he peered out of the cabin window.
“Hey now lassie curb that tongue of yours!” He shouted, lining up the ‘LOCH’S DESTINY’ ever so nicely with the dock and shutting off the motor before setting about tying off. Jenna didn’t wait for him to draw the plank out she jumped off the craft into the arms of the now more impatient Ashley, embracing her friend tightly.
“It’s good to be here Ash.”
“Aye, I’ll agree with you when we be inside out of this horrid weather. Grab your bags and such and let’s see about getting some hot food into us.” Ashley replied motioning towards the Captain who waited with arms full of Jenna’s stuff. She took them with a grateful smile and followed after her friend as she headed off and away from the port docks.

Another older story I'm re-uploading from my original account, one I wanted to keep a hold of.
Please note: my older stories are very raw & somewhat unedited, so don't mind any writing faults, I've not had time to revise them yet.
