Evan, Oatmeal and the kobold counsellor rode down the elevator into the abyss below, seemingly going as deep as the tower goes high up. The deeper they went... Plink... Plink... Plink... The sounds of pickaxes hitting stone came closer and closer to them, orange light brightened the walls as they neared their destination. The sight that met them were that of a huge colony of kobolds of all types digging out a massive cavern in every direction, this place was like the size of a city! Housing were built into walls, scaffolding held dozens of kobolds up as they dug out for expansion, for gems or maybe just for the Heck of it. Lanterns were hung up around the place, it was very bright for being so far under ground! Kobolds scurried around everywhere, not all of them were working, most were just goofing around and having fun! They come in so many colours and types, everyone was represented here. from Kobolds to klyvebolds, tunebolds, dogbolds, longbolds... It was difficult for either of our two heroes to shake the thoughts of wanting to take one home with them.
The elevator finally reached the bottom and thus were the heroes guided along a cobblestone path, with the kobolds surrounding them all collectively letting out an admiring "oooohhhhh" at the sight of Evan's crown, something he falsely believed to be them finding him handsome. She didn't say it, but Oatmeal thought the same thing. The counselling kobold shoo'd away the others and adjusted their glasses, they were in a hurry and have a delivery to make. The Imp and Tabaxi were brought to an unusually big door, almost as big as the front gate. Oatmeal was suspecting this could be the door to the vault, a huge cove filled with treasure and a large dragon on top was surely waiting behind here! And the dragon was said to be psychic too... Oatmeal wouldn't even dare think anything in case it could mask their arrival, what if the dragon could read thoughts?. Just how are the two supposed to retrieve a sword from something like THAT? while not expressing it Evan was having similar thoughts, or rather he was having thoughts, placing a loving grip on his hip to confirm again that Noah packed several health potions for them.
"okay you two, before we enter I must urge you both not to stall any of the wizard's time with this delivery, please keep the explanation for the weapons brief and you'll be on your way. They are currently getting ready to go out on an errand" the little green one told the two of them. They disappeared through the tiny kobold door and unlocked the bigger door for them and it opened. The room was... Spacious! Like a mansion! It's immediate living room had a desk and a bed, comfortable furniture and... Holy moly, Oatmeal and Evan looked up in amazement as they witnessed a chandelier 20 feet above them, stocked to the brim with magic weapons and items... and Heidi's sword! The accompanied kobold took their leave and closed the door behind them.
"Soooo, who may you two be?" a voice from the corner of the room caught the attention of Oatmeal and Evan. "Am I to assume the two of you are here to add more weapons to my collection? Ah, of course you are, why would the two of you be carrying weapons of that sort if it was not to be delivered into the hands of someone worthy?". They were a tall shadowy figure, sporting a wizard hat that obscured their face with a matching huge burgundy coat. Their lower legs was the only thing exposed, sporting eye-catching gold anklets and sharp claws that would make anyone nervous. Was this the dragon the kobolds were speaking of? They addressed themselves like they were the one collecting the weapons, and the hat matches the description... but are they psychic? Oatmeal talked back at the figure, "hey dude what number am I thinking of?". Immediately the stranger answers "Seven.". Oatmeal's mouth was agape, that WAS the number she thought of! "Everyone thinks of Seven first." The figure continued. Evan and Oatmeal looked at each other and confirmed this was the wizard as they drew their weapons at them.
"Alright, look dude" Oatmeal said, "We're like not here to give you our gear, we're like here to retrieve one you stole from our friend, and we're like not afraid to get violent just saying". Evan stepped forth alongside his comrade, "Yeah, what she said.". Evan drew a smug grin and crossed his arms, "You seem to be a busy guy, I'll make you a deal, if you give use that blue katana you stole a few days ago we'll let you carry on without any bruises, alright?".
The eccentric voice of the wizard kept quiet, they seemed to be at a loss for words or simply scanning the situation, their wizard hat made it hard to tell... A wand crept up from their long coat and they immediately cast a huge gust of wind at Evan, which he quite easily dodged with a side-flip but unfortunately it hit Oatmeal instead, pressurised to the point of feeling like a big fist just punched her straight in the gut. She flew backwards and crashed into the wall. Oatmeal was knocked out cold with her face planted into the wall, Evan didn't have enough time to focus on her with a threat looming right in front of him. At least he knew she'd be fine, she's got a health potion. Plus she's like insanely tough.
"So one-on-one huh, this suits me just fine! Let me introduce myself, I am Prince Evan the fourth, and I am about to become your worst nightmare. He/him pleased to meet you.".
The wizard tilted their head in response, "Oh um, alright, yes, yes I suppose it is only proper for a duel.". The wizard flashily casts their coat aside and...
I've been very excited about this! Who can this mysterious shadowy figure be... What is their motive, what do they look like, are they a meanie... so many questions to be answered! Find out next time..........
