nate uses every asset in his arsenal to get ahead. Whether that's charming his peers and superiors into putting in a good word for him; simply doing the best job he possibly can; keeping up with and making use of office gossip; or good old fashioned blackmail. Nate's got the goal he's shooting for, and he will make sure it's a bullseye.

At first he just disguises himself as a woman because a) he knows he can (his mom taught him how to use make-up to its full effect, and he's not got the most chadly of figures anyway. When he was a kid people often mistook him for a girl anyway bc he had long hair and wore loose androgynous clothing and he never cared about correcting them) and b) he figures people wouldn't think he'd be disguising himself as the opposite gender. Then he just finds it so much fun, misleading people and making them think one thing when he's got all the cards. He never really does cotton on that he actually is just a woman sometimes and that's gender euphoria, baby!
