I was going through a bunch of CDs and found this photo taken Dec. 1, 2002.
An old LAPD car in front of the Highland Park Jail. No longer a jail at the time, it has been converted into the LAPD Historical Museum. My Father, the one on the left, was Chief Historian up until he passed away at 83.
The people in the photo are from the VFW and are getting ready to use the antique car to deliver Christmas presents to the local community center.

*looks around* So where's Jack Webb? Seriously, I think the first, b&w, version of Dragnet was off TV before '58 and the second, color, one wasn't until the 1960's.
I agree totally with Varinki, that's most clearly a 1958 Chevy since that year had a very distinctive styling not that related to the years on either side of it.
