Vurga has a shrink ray. It's not that he needs it. He's more than capable of guzzling down things even bigger than he is. But when someone's small, he can do more than just eat them. He can toy with his catches.

When they're that small, being at mouth level means escape is as dangerous as staying put. Hopping off of his paw or out of his jaws is like jumping from a building. And even if a tiny prey manages to slip away and descend safely, they're not built for fast speeds at a small size. They're not going to be quick enough to go far. And if Vurga shuts the door? Even if they get away, there's simply nowhere to go.

It lets Vurga take his time. He talks to them, teases them and makes a game out of every part of the process. If they resist, Vurga acts like a playful monster. If they play by his rules, Vurga becomes a hungry showman. And even if they defy every expectation and win the bunny's challenges, he'll simply congratulate them by letting them try to open the door. ...What's that? They want to be big again? Oh, sorry, it's a shrink ray, not a grow ray. That's their permanent new size.

Once someone has been shrunk by Vurga, they're doomed. They will end up going down his gullet. How long they last depends entirely on how entertaining they are, but every second is borrowed time. And his stomach always collects.
