First off, the character here belongs to sarahsilver.
Now a little background, if you're interested. So I had the pleasure of swapping some shop talk with Patches at AC, and she passed along a really good tip to me about trying nibs as a substitute/supplement to brush and micron inking. I was cleaning today and while I was going through some old art supplies I found two pens with nibs that I hadn't used since... probably highschool? And then I remembered her advice and I had to try it out. So I pulled up her character's refsheet and kind of just started doodling, and it's like catgirls in nurse outfits how can I resist?
I just really wanted to draw her up something to say thanks for the advice. I never would have revisited those pens again if not for the tip; I was terrible with them when I was younger, but I guess the intervening time has been kind to my once super shaky hands. I'm hardly a pro with them but they were super useful and I'll definitely be taking them to the next con. :D

I really do like the line work you have here. The shakiness can be seen, but it's slight enough that it adds character in a most pleasant way. There are a few spots of uneven line widths, but they are more than made up for by the really quality line work which is in the majority. This is definitely a look I'd like to see you do more with!
Also, yes, catgirl nurses can steal my striped socks any day.

Thanks! I figure that any piece worth a "favourite" is worth a little bit of feedback. I babbled about the subject a little bit some time back though I haven't quite followed through with the two paragraphs thing... which might be a mercy, really. *grin*
Thanks :3
I would love to do more traditional inking; the tough thing is that sometimes it's like I know I'm going to butcher the lineart so I wuss out and go digital. I think traditional has more craft and subtlety, and I really really admire the people who have mastered it, but I have a lot to learn on that front imo.

I sort of do the same thing, really... but I'm also not quite as focused. As music goes, I doodle around on my Casio keyboard every so often but to make music I tend to go directly to my composition programs. It's been so many years since I used an actual acoustic instrument! For all the flexibility afforded by such methods of composition, the subtle life of performance is missing... and thus, I haven't really improved my performance skills at all. (People sometimes assume that my music background will make me a great player at Rock Band. Sticking notes into Schism Tracker doesn't take timing or dexterity!)
Writing happens directly into a text editor; the only time a pen sees a page is for the tiniest of notes or sketches into a tiny notepad in my purse. I do sometimes wonder what would come of trying to write entirely in the classic, tactile fashion. (Granted, lately I wonder what would come of writing anything at all...! I'm trying to settle my studio arrangement so I can do so.)

After weeks of our internet here not working, I come online and find... THIS!
I'm honoured, giddy, and vastly surprised. I'm so happy that such a wee tidbit helped you out so much! You certainly needn't have gone to such lengths- not that I object! <3
This is gorgeous and adorable, great flow and style. I love the way you draw hands (and the armwarmers to the knuckles, just like I wear them!), and the way you ink (white lines on black spaces, some feathers shaded in) gives a nice sense of depth and shows some impressive technical skill. I love the outfit and how you did her nose spot! :D
Thank you so much, you've made my night! If you'd be willing to part with the original at a future con, I would -love- to include this in my Patches blackbook. <3

Awesome; glad you liked it :3
I would be more than willing to hand off the original, just letting you know that the size is really weird and not rectangular (cut it down from a huge spare piece of bristol). There are also a few things I tweaked in photoshop about the lines; so they are not totally true to the final.
