Three guesses as to who those two little cuties are on the right...!
But yeah, this is an old family photo of Ivory and Ebony Rainbow-Heartshine, out enjoying a local festival with their dad, Auburn. (yes- their dad has a canon name now!)
Now you must be wondering; all Rainbow-Heartshines HAVE to have a wacky mutation due to living near a chemical spill, so what zany health issue could Auburn have gotten saddled with?
Cancer.
it grew and receeded on and off, but it did eventually claim him, and Auburn passed away when the twins were 19. and even in this picture, you can tell he isn't in the best health. it's honestly a miracle he held on for as long as he did.
but yeah, this is the guy who raised everyone's favorite conjoined 'Eon Moms, and was even the one who taught them how to settle their issues with a coin flip. needless to say, Eb and Ivy both remember their "Papa" fondly, and still miss him to this day...

Yeah...
In case you wondered, If it looks like I'm keeping the nature of Auburn's cancer up to interpretation, it's because I am in no way an Oncologist and don't know the first thing about it other than a few places it can pop up in and generally "Cancer Bad." I did lose an uncle to brain cancer, but that's where my personal experience with it ends.
Though if I were to hazard a guess, I'd say it was either Lungs or Flame Sac, since Auburn did lose the ability to breathe fire in his later years.
The gist is that Auburn became aware of his illness not long after the twins were born, and he hung out with them a lot more than his wife, Nora (a Glaceon, in case you're wondering,) did because he always figured he wasn't long for this world. Though I don't think the guy ever predicted that he'd live just long enough to see his girls reach adulthood. You can't say the guy wasn't blessed...
