When I was a toddler, I was WAAAAYYY into Alvin and the Chipmunks. Then when I was about 10, I got back into them again in a big way. I can't say I've cared about them that much since then, but every time I see an updated design I frown a little. Animation is full of fun, bold designs, both 2D and 3D, but the recent Chipmunk iterations have been kind of mushy and lacking (in my humble opinion). Anyways, I took elements of all the designs, drawing largely from the late 50s originals, and tried to update them with a bit of variety. I hope you like my designs and personality profiles!

ALVIN: Oldest brother, middle height. He posts covers of songs online, even if he technically isn't old enough to be using any social media sites. Every time an account he's made is shut down, he makes a new one right away. He likes to play the guitar and sing, and dreams of building a music career someday. He's also into sports; his favorites are baseball and soccer and he plays when he can. He can be difficult, but he loves his brothers and will do anything for them (when he's not trying to force them into a new crazy scheme to go viral with their music).

SIMON: Middle brother, tallest height. He's definitely the most studious and prefers to play the violin, but if he's backing his brothers he's usually playing the bass, the keyboard, or riffing with tracks on a MIDI controller. He's recently joined the LEGO robotics team at school. Simon is the detail-oriented brother that helps Alvin's schemes coalesce from big-picture ideas to actionable plans. He has the most emotional maturity out of the three and can help solve problems that send the other two into fits of panic. However, he will sometimes fall into the trap of overthinking things.

THEODORE: Youngest brother, shortest height. He's naive of the evils of the world and takes extreme joy in the small things. He's a big fan of gaming and wants to play online but Dave, their adoptive father, won't let him just yet. He's the percussionist of the band and his bright personality shines when he's cutting loose behind the drum kit. Theodore is the emotional center that mediates when Alvin and Simon are clashing with one another. He loves to bake, and everyone in the household gets excited when he wanders into the kitchen to experiment.
