I don't think I can express enough how much I adore a good Salisbury steak, especially when accompanied by just the right sauce. They're pretty easy and quick to make too, which means they're a perfect choice if you need or want to cook something quickly for multiple people or just yourself! Just follow these instructions and in about half an hour, you'll have a delicious meal ready!
Patty ingredients:
- 1 1/2lbs of ground beef
- 3/4 cup of bread crumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 can of Campbell's onion soup
- 1 tbsp of red wine vinegar
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1/4 tsp of black pepper
- 1 tbsp of water
- 2 tbsp of cooking oil
Sauce ingredients:
- 1 1/2 tbsp of flour
- 1/4 cup of ketchup
- 1/4 cup of water
- 2 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp of Dijon mustard
Recipe:
1. In a large bowl, mix together all the patty ingredients with your hands.
2. Shape the meat into 6 equal-size oval-shaped patties. You should have enough meat for 12, but go with 6 for now to make it easier to work with and save the rest of the meat for later use. Remember as well to wash your hands after finishing this step.
3. Heat up the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat
4. Carefully use a spatula to place the patties into the skillet and brown both sides of each one.
5. When the patties are cooked through, turn the heat down to low, carefully flip each patty again and place a lid on the skillet.
6. In a bowl, mix the sauce ingredients well with a spoon, stirring quickly until you have a thick, light brown sauce.
7. Pour the sauce over the patties, place the lid back on the skillet and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
8. Move the patties onto plates, being sure to cover each one in a good amount of sauce, and serve.
And just like that, you've prepared a nice batch of Salisbury steaks! And as always, I hope you enjoy making and eating these delightful little guys as much as I did! <3
