For some reason my browser absolutely despises this comment box, so here’s the tl;dr.
Waidan in Japanese: dirty talk. (Tangential: ‘Pillow Talk’ is the name of a magical lightsaber-flute from the excellent game Ōkami.)
Waidan in Chinese: External alchemy. That is, alchemy done outside of the body - the other kind, Neidan, is basically the modern manga concept of ‘cultivation’, so that’s a thing.
