My second favorite dinosaur. It's just too strange and cool to miss it. I pictured the Masiakasaurus as completely scaled, with raws of iguana-like spines running on its back. I didn't find much information about the weird "holes" in its dentary and maxilla. They reminded me of the same holes present in piscivorous dinosaurs like spinosaurids, and since whiskers were a possible option, I decided to add them. Mind you, the whiskers are not that deep, but connected to an array of receptors like those of modern day crocodiles. Additionally, they are more similar to feathers, like the rictal whiskers of oilbirds. Because of the protuberances on the skull, I gave it a small, mainly fleshy crest/ornament. For the color scheme I got inspired by the Black-collared hawk (Busarellus nigricollis) as it would have lived a similar life style. It would have eaten anything small enough to fit its mouth, but it mainly hunted fish. It probably could have been an occasional scavenger, being among the last animals to feed off a carcass, reaching with its teeth the places previously left unscathed.
