Gregalias is the deuteragonist of Book of Phantasmania. He is Seishou's mentor and master. As a god, he manages the peace and balance to all the realms and protects all form of life from Oshoku's corruption, while living as an ordinary human.
Personality:
His personality is straightforward, optimistic, and a bit curious. While rather lazy in his free time, he's highly devoted to his duties as a protector of the numerous realms. He is considered to have mood swings, in which he can be seen as childish or serious. Though he is seen with a positive outlook, as one of the powerful beings in BoP, he can be observant. In addition, he is often seen being critical of others. He is described being old fashioned.
Gregalias is known for being weird and lives for the enjoyment of life. Though he rarely leaves the Jutaku, he is well-connected and is acquainted with most of the most powerful youkai and gods as well as anyone having to do with the Agency and the various realms.
He often has a great deal of insight and understanding about whatever happens in the different realms. Though he seems flaky and unreliable most of the time, when the safety or security of the main realm, or realms that homes his associates is at stake, even if it means getting people to do the work for him. If a situation is serious or involves his close colleagues or something personal, he isn't afraid to get his own hands dirty.
He can be seen as mysterious or enigmatic if someone asks relations about his past. He does not like when being with magic are causing problems, so he opts to deal with them in his time off. He maintains a demeanor in which he can grant others with abilities a chance to work with him finding others like them. However, in rare cases, he kills those whom he deems are too dangerous. Since he is a person who follows his own rules, he just kills the corruption of that person and letting them live their lives without memories of them possession powers.
He tends not to get involve in solving incidents as he mostly has Seishou do the job for him as part of his training. However, he secretly goes off investigating on his own just to prevent anyone close to him getting into trouble. Despite his friendly and pleasant personality, he will revert to his old threatening personality of scaring off potential enemies and leaving them warnings if they were to do any harm, he'll kill them, despite he created the spell card system which avoids harming or killing.
His habits of punishing others are questionable and almost nonsensical, such as giving Miyako a human body in order to understand how being human feels and sealing Kanda inside the body of a dog.
Ability:
He is in no doubt one of the most powerful god in all the realms. A few other beings like Shimoyoshi and Lily have been considered to be around his level. No one knows any weaknesses towards him, and even shooting, cutting, stabbing, hitting, or killing him is useless, he even admits he doesn't know his own weakness. Despite his power, he might still lose spell card battles to humans and youkai. His physical strength isn't quite known as he isn't usually seen doing any physical labor.
However, because he sacrifice half of his magic to obtain a human form, he isn't as powerful as when he is able to create worlds.
Manipulating magic
Usage of magic is quite common in BoP, Gregalias' ability is extended beyond that. He is capable of mastering any form of magic, sorcery, etc. Magic requires months or a year to master through concentrating, but it takes him a few minutes to summon familiars and seconds to shoot projectiles. It is likely that he can manipulate magic itself.
One of the extend of this ability is him creating accesses to different realms.
Due to his old age, he can forgot an art he studied and is unable to master it unless he trains of mastering it again. In Lunar Eclipse Festivities, he used a spell card to seal Miyako's dragon form away but is unable to perform the spell again when he fights him one more time.
Changing into a dragon
Gregalias can shapeshift into a dragon, which is one of his studies to his apprentices. Unlike shapshifters like Genteki, and Kemon who transforms physically sprouting wings and a tail, Gregalias transforms in a manner where his body can't be seen changing. He surrounds himself with butterflies during every transformation, and his dragon form disperse into butterflies when he changes back into his human form.
Creating and destroying worlds (formerly)
With the word 'creation' in it's name, Gregalias is capable of pretty much anything put under the influence of this ability. In Diary of a Greenwood, he explains that this power allows him to create planets along with all life upon it, he can also create the sky, shaping the earth, and even creates the sun and stars. He is also capable of changing his creations' shapes and sizes, such as the formation of earthquakes and the growth of aging. However, as life comes with death, his creation may not last. As the 'world' he created for the humans will come to an end. This ability along with his long lifespan makes him God among man.
Aside from creating planets and shaping lands, he can summon living beings. He can't create a human without a source for a soul to be placed in so he uses dirt, rock and clay as a source for a body. He mostly recycles souls to prevent any overcrowding in the afterlife, and since souls may contain memories of their past lives, he erases them when they are given life. Gregalias can instantly create a grown human being with clothing and memories if he wants to. Though while he can still do this trick, but those 'instant creations' will have very short lifespans and will instantly die upon completing their purpose.
He used to have this ability in the past, but sacrificed it in order to have a human body.
Occupation:
Despite being referred to as a 'god', Gregalias is merely an immortal and ageless human. Him being referred as a god is actually more of a status instead of a species since his power level equates to one, although he rarely does any god-like things such apart from being a protector and peacekeeper.
SSS staff member
Gregalias works for Shimoyoshi despite being a higher being than her. He often works as a teacher at the School for the Supernatural, lecturing students about using of magic.
River guardian
Gregalias is a guardian of a river, the river is an open passage to the Youkai Realm, which is why a bridge was built there. As a guardian of the river, Gregalias used his dragon form to fend of intruders who trespass the Youkai Realm.
Mentor
Gregalias works as a mentor to Seishou and Genteki (formally). This purpose is to find a successor for him to maintain the balance and peacekeeping, although he never tells them the purpose of their training.
Exterminator and investigator
Gregalias in the past used to work as a youkai terminator who hunts down and kills dangerous youkai. He eventually retire from this job after seeing the species of monsters he killed was near extinct.
He often and secretly works as an investigator whenever incidents are occurring. He mostly goes alone and occasionally has a colleague come with him in case of emergencies.
History:
Gregalias was once part of a race of godlike beings who create numerous universes, simple referred as 'Creators'. Gregalias grew fond of his creations and wanted to be with them. He crafted himself a human body and sacrfices half of his powers to be able to live with them and traveled to earth.
Old life
Gregalias was found by a human boy as a dragon and had a sword (the Celestial Butterfly Sword) impaled on his body. The boy helped Gregalias and removed the sword. Grateful, Gregalias and the boy become close friends as he helped the boy's family gather fish to eat and maintain a happy life. It wasn't until when the tribe the boy was from heard of him (Gregalias) and wanted to hunt him. Gregalias knew they will be in danger if he remains so he left, only to find out that the tribe killed the boy and his family. Gregalias fell into a rage and destroyed the entire valley in an instant.
Bounty Hunter and Tokage
Hundreds of years later, Gregalias works as a youkai hunter, under the guise of a professor. He meets a mercenary called Tokage who he pays to accompany him during their travels to different planets collecting and hunting rare creatures. Gregalias and Tokage fell in love as they plan on saving money to live in a small planet on their own. Whoever, Gregalias waited for Tokage at a station but he never came. He eventually continue working alone as a bounty hunter.
The Rare and Extinct Monster
Gregalias was called in to exterminate a race of monsters that were deemed dangerous to be left alive. Upon slaying an entire hive of them, Gregalias sees one of them still alive, cowering before him as he points his sword at it while holding the head of its dead broodmate. This is when Gregalias decides to retire from killing monsters and spared the creature.
Youkai and Human Wars
He helped Shimoyoshi organize war against humans with her army of youkai. After the war, Gregalias created a barrier over a large land with eventually became the youkai realm for Shimoyoshi and all of mythical creatures to reside from the ever changing human world.
Greenville Mages
Gregalias help organize a clan of mages who protect the town of Greenville. He is close to the Greenwood family and teaches a young Agatha Greenwood on how to control magic.
Creation of the Agency
This is when Gregalias started to work as a peacekeeper for both humans and youkai. He rescued a young Bane 'Tuskman' Hager from a monster when he was on patrol. Tuskman got involved in Gregalias' odd monster hunting antics which resulted in him being promoted into a high ranking status in the police force. Gregalias then helps him found and create a faction of special gifted detectives whom are tasked to investigate magic related cases.
Exterminating Kanda
Gregalias was called by the agency to exterminate a creature rampaging in an alternate dimension. This creature was Kanda. Gregalias kills him, not before placing his soul and powers unto a nearby stray dog as he knows Kanda was only a victim of Oshoku's corruption. Because of the damage Kanda caused to this dimension, Gregalias had no other option but to destroy it to avoid Kanda's corruption from spreading.
The Ender Dragon
Gregalias traveled to the underground to stop monsters from the netherworld in an attempt to invade the surface, lead by their leader the Ender Dragon. Gregalias sealed them all back into their home realm but before punishing them into having the bodies of humans.
A Quite Life
Gregalias moved into an old shrine located near a human village and lived alone and secluded. He adopted a shapeshifting monster as his maid and eventually invites wandering travelers in his home for shelter. He then decides to have an apprentice to be his successor. His first apprentice was Genteki, whom he found in the human village stealing. Genteki was an almost perfect apprentice before he went rogue and left to pursue his ambitions, particularly to become a dragon after he sees Gregalias using his dragon form to protect the human village from invading monsters.
On a trip in the human world, he found an abandoned raccoon cub. Gregalias took it with him and discovers the cub has magical properties and grows more anthropomorphic when it ages. This raccoon became Seishou, Gregalias' current apprentice.
Relationships:
Seishou
Gregalias' apprentice is Seishou. They are good friends and spent a lot of time together. Gregalias often lectures Seishou, though he isn't all harsh on him. Despite his aloofness, he cares about Seishou despite Seishou finding a hard time understanding him.
Alice Akino
Alice is Gregalias colleague from the modern human world. She visits him to deliver items from her world and occasionally joins him on investigating incidents.
Genteki
Gregalias' former apprentice and current love interest. Genteki seeks alliance with Gregalias to achieve his dream of being a dragon. While he dislikes Genteki's stubbornness, he has a soft spot for him. The two eventuially fall in love then married and had a daughter, Lilac.
Kuripa and Enda
Kuripa and Enda are monsters Gregalias tamed who became servants for him. He mostly treats Kuripa as a pet while Enda (despite working for him) as a guest.
Eluka and Lilac
Gregalias is very fond of Eluka, even inviting her with him when he travels to different realms, such as the Youkai Realm where she met Sukonekushi. Gregalias, along with Genteki did their best to bond with Lilac, after she returned from her studies in a human world.
Nishihana Muranaga
Gregalias is in great terms with the human village leader, Nishihana. She often asks him for assistance in magic, mostly for the purposes of protecting her village.
Akuma Akarui
Gregalias fought Akuma in a friendly manner. They are now in good terms and often work as allies.
Shimoyoshi Fukuhara
Gregalias is good friends and allies with Shimoyoshi. They fought in a war after she asks him for his assistance.
Oshoku Sasayaki
Gregalias created Oshoku before he gave himself a human body and traveled to earth. It is highly possible that he gathered many allies and created the Agency just to fight off against Oshoku and her minions as well as have them stop her corruption from spreading.
Pandora Lazuli
Pandora and Gregalias met and fought numerous times in the past. Gregalias knows Pandora's intentions of causing trouble in all the realms but can't do anything else about it, since all she does is spreading reality changing rumors.
Tokage
Gregalias and Tokage her former partners then lovers. Despite not seeing each other for many centuries, they are in good terms and would secretly work together again solving incidents and reliving the old days.
Robyn Greenwood
Robyn is the granddaughter of Gregalias' former student, Agatha. He occasionally mentors Robyn on how to control her magic.
Captain Bane 'Tuskman' Hager
Gregalias rescued a young Tuskman back when he was just a rookie officer from a monster attack. Tuskman eventually gets too involved in Gregalias' missions and decides to help promote Tuskman by having him hunting and taking down secret organizations. The two eventually formed the Agency with Tuskman taking the role as its founder.
Shou Takahara
Gregalias and Shou have a friendly rivalry. Shou dislikes Gregalias' antics of getting him and his colleagues into numerous situations while they are investigating. While Shou doesn't understand Gregalias' intentions were, he does know it was for the good despite how he manipulates the situations just to get there.
Kanada Theodore Phillips
Kanda was the creature Gregalias killed back then. He resurfaced in Greenville in the body of the dog and almost went into another rampage before Gregalias subdued him again. Currently, Gregalias is making sure Kanda is tamable and making him less of a threat by placing him in the care of the human Marko.
