Hello everyone! Today I bring up my first starship, inspired by Star Trek vessels. Definitely a fun project to draw :3



This starship is part of an Rp series, and the main canon of the “Space Age” of Animalia. Becoming the backbone Long Range Explorer of the Animalian Stellar Union. Here is a short part of the Ship’s history :3

Bearing the hull registration As-Ev-335 “Dakota” (Dak’ta), this starship, is the primary starship of the Animalian Stellar Union throughout the 21st to 24th centuries. It’s classed as the dedicated Explorer and Heavy Cruiser of the Union Navy exploratory branch, until 2443, when the larger “Victoria” class is introduced to replace it with its tasks on exploring the Universe.


History: The Original Dakota, registered as AS-EV 335 was built on Animalia’s surface near Gold Ring in 2086. The Ship was officially launched in 2087, and met by massive celebrations, by the time the Animalians unified the planet under one common government. The Ship was pivotal in discovering advanced warp travel , beyond the speed of Warp 9.96, and testing advanced Zirodax reactors during it’s early career. The Dakota became the first FTL and warp capable ship that was able to reach far undiscovered territories near the CNE, and it was pivotal in establishing first contact with the 3 important factions of the Alusian Consortium, which later formed an alliance, with the Stellar Union. The Ship was led by Lead Marshall Vi’dar, a which left the Shigu army to join the Union Star Navy. Following the discovery of the Katrans, however, Animalia found itself at war with the Katran empire, and were quickly overwhelmed by their powerful Psionic capabilities, The Dakota had to be converted into a warship, it’s configuration matching a heavy cruiser. Noteworthy changes to it’s weapons loadout were the addition of 2 heavy pairs of cannons under it’s primary saucer, and multiple torpedo tubes next to it’s already existing armament, to be able to withstand the enemy warships of the Katrans, aswell as Advanced shielding provided by the Alusian Science administration, to improve it’s resistance against boarding parties. The vessel saw action during the defence of the planet Animalia sometime in the year 2100, and one year later 2101, it saw action at the battle for Sector 534, where a Taskforce of 72 ships faced off against a fleet of 59 Katran Dreadnoughts. Despite the Katran holding the majority of the line, and utilizing small craft to penetrate the weakening defenses, the Dakota, alongside several other vessels preformed multiple flanking maneuvers and utilized it’s weaponry at relative close range against several Dreadnoughts. The Animalians would go on to loose this battle, with the Dakota regrouping with the Taskforce one sector further, at Sector 535, to receive reinforcements. The ship was later reassigned in the midst of battle to intercept a large Katran force near an uncharted Nebula. With the crew dealing with exhaustion from the battle, and with possible exploratory possiblities along it’s journey, the ship left to intercept the larger force alone, in an attempt to stall the progress upon Sector 535. As it passed through the Nebula, the ship’s inertial dampeners, aswell as it’s Zirodax core containment failed, causing multiple explosions. The ship dropped out of warp near an uncontacted world of a pre-warp civilization. The crash, resulted in the partial destruction of the ship, and death of half of the crew. Despite the crash, with the help of the **redacted database entry**, the crew managed to stabilize the core containment and prevent the Katran fleet from advancing by taking off again and positioning itself in orbit, despite the critical structural integrity. It went on to have a long, successful war record after it’s accident.

With the end of the war in 2110 with the discovery and first contacts with the CNE, the main government of the Navuins, and the Katran’s cousins, the Dakota was reconverted into it’s original purpose





Designing the Ship:



When designing her, I got heavily inspired by the Kelvin timeline ships, mainly the USS Enterprise-A From Star Trek Beyond, and the USS Korolev from Star Trek Axanar :3
The Deflector dish and Bridge design reflect this in the best way possible

The ship features combined warp Nacelles, closely next to eachother, resembling an early concept of the USS-Shenzhou form Star Trek Discovery. Another interesting detail is the Impulse engine, located in a separate housing above one of the Shuttle bays. Despite it being powered by an alternative power source, the Impulse drive is capable in bringing the Ship at warp, but only for a short while,.


Speaking of Shuttle Bays, the ship also has a type of special hangar that is located bellow the main section of the ship. This hangar carries two smaller starships known as “Tenders” that were used as larger ferries between a planet and the ship. The tenders have 2 decks, and their own separate weapon systems and they are warp capable. The ships were widely used for both civilian and military missions on multiple occasions during the Animalian-Katran war :3
