“Atten-SHUN!” the Hitmontop shouted to her explorers. “Listen here you maggots! You didn’t join the Explorers for fun. You joined because you want to be the best! Like no one ever was!”. She was interrupted by a shout from the distance, “Ya forced them to join!”. “Eh? Who is that?” Madeline rubbed her head and walked to face the shouter, it was the Tapu Lele, she looked very cross. “Can I help you, ma’am?” Madeline asked.
“I want ya to take Caasi off your explorer crap, right now!” Fleur crossed her arms, the Marshadow was peeking from behind, looking up at Madeline. “Uhhh… Caasi, do you know this lady?” the Hitmontop looked confused. “This is Fleur—” Caasi was about to introduced her but the Tapu Lele insisted, pressing her hand against the Hitmontop’s chest. “Don’t change the topic. Ya forced Caasi to joined, didn’t ya! I want him off, he does not need to be part of this guild!” Fleur grumbled.
“S-sorry, but Caasi accepted, and he already signed the form, I can’t just have him out of the guild right now.” Madeline smiled with innocence. “What?! He’s just a child, he’ll get hurt!” Fleur looked worried and down at the Marshadow. “Don’t worry, I’ll look after him. I will make sure he is safe. Caasi will be trained to be a good explorer, you’ll see! In fact, we’re starting our training session right now.” Madeline smiled and looked down at the Marshadow. “Caasi, why don’t you join with the others for now. And uhh... Fleur, was it? You do not need to worry, you can watch in the distance, okay?”. Fleur sighed and nodded reluctantly, “Fine. However, if he gets hurt, ya get hurt!”.
Fleur hovers away and watches from the distance. Madeline sighed and turned around to her explorer teammates. “Okay! Explorers. First things first, we’re going to test your agility. That’s right, we’re gonna have a race around the outside of the gym. First explorer that makes a full circle around the gym will be crowned fastest!”. Caasi looked around at the other explorers, who were ready to run. He was unsure about where he should be heading in this race, but was ready to start running too. Ideally, he’d be a lot faster if he was in the shadow, but he promised Fleur to not go into it.
Madeline raised one of her arms up, “Ready? Set…”, most of the Pokémon were ready to lift off, “GO!” she shouted. Everyone started running from the entrance of the gym, and turning around the corner. Madeline stood there and waited for them to come back. Meanwhile ahead, Caasi was keeping up with some of the Pokémon, but some were more competitive than others, pushing others aside, including Caasi, making him lose balance but was able to prevent himself from falling. After doing a full loop around the gym, the Marshadow was able to make it back to Madeline but a lot of other Explorers were already there, waiting. “Well done, Caasi. Now for your next training session, we gotta test your attack! Inside the gym there are some dummies for you to practice on.”
“U-uhm…” Caasi looked nervous, he doesn’t want to attack anything unless he absolutely has to. “Can I skip that part?” He mumbled. “Can you what?!” Madeline was shocked, “No, you can’t skip it, I need ya to be in tip-top shape! C’mon, it’s just a bunch of dummies, just give one a punch!”. The Hitmontop demonstrated by setting up a dummy and giving it a forceful punch, knocking it over. “See, now you do one!” The Hitmontop insisted. The Marshadow felt a bit sorry for the dummies getting punched, he sighed and walked to the dummy that Madeline set up for him. He looked at it, and then looked back at the Hitmontop. She nodded and threw a punch at the air, showing Caasi what he’s supposed to do.
The Marshadow looked back at the dummy, and gave it a little tap with his fist. “There, I punched it.” Madeline grumbled in disgust, “No no no! Do a proper big punch, not a weak little tap! C’mon, you’re better than that”. Madeline reminded Caasi exactly what his sister always said to him when they were training together, she would insist that Caasi try harder, but he didn’t want to fight, causing them to have an argument. The Marshadow disliked how his sister would treat him, always calling him weak, or too soft and then having to be beaten up in a fight against her. Caasi felt angry from this reminder. He clenched his fist and delivered a much more powerful blow to the dummy, causing it fly backwards towards the wall.
Madeline was impressed by the punch. “Wow! So forceful. Good work Caasi! I knew I could count on you. You’d be a worthy opponent, that’s for sure!” She walked over and gave the Marshadow a pat on the head. Caasi flinched at first thinking that the Hitmontop was gonna hurt him, but then he was astonished that he received praise for his punch. He looked over towards the dummy that he punched and was amazed by his result. “I… did that?”. Fleur entered and clapped, “Wow, ya strong little marshmallow, aren’t ya!”. The Hitmontop smiled, “You’re definitely worthy of an explorer, Caasi. Don’t be too afraid to throw your punches. It can be dangerous; you need to be quick and strong”.
“Okay, that’s enough training for now.” Madeline looked down at Caasi and then thought of something. “Actually, this is more up your alley Caasi, but we have our co-leader, Briar the Flygon over at the park. You should head over there and see what he wants. Probably want some flowers planting or something, heh.” Madeline smiled. Caasi nodded, he loves flowers and absolutely would be delighted to be doing that with Briar.
The Tapu Lele and the Marshadow left the gym, with Fleur looking down at Caasi. “Hey, little marshmallow. I need to go shopping and get some food. I’ll guide you to the park, then go shopping, and I’ll meet you at the park, okay?” she said, giving a little wink. “I’ll get you some marshmallows.” Caasi smiled and nodded as he loved the sound of her getting marshmallows for him.
