A perfect pumpkin pastry from !

Here's a shot of the pumpkin bread loaves I got from the recipe I posted in my journal. They came out pretty good, but I'm probably going to fool with the recipe just to see if I can improve it a bit. :)

I have no idea how this will turn out- this is my mom's old pumpkin bread recipe, probably dating from the 1940's or thereabouts. This batch seems to have needed 3 loaf pans.

Mom’s pumpkin bread recipe

Beat together 2 cups sugar and 2/3 cup oil
Add 4 beaten eggs
Add 1 can pumpkin
Add 3 ½ cups flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 ½ teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1teaspoon nutmeg
2/3 cup water

Mix well and pour into greased loaf pans, fill each about halfway.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hour, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
