I know I've been frustrated with some of my cartridges to the point of wanting to eat them in a fit of RAGE.

You should totally search for a top-loader, I found a refurbished one for $82 from Pedro games on Ebay...

Alternatively, since the patent on the NES is long dead (and even berore then other countries were making bootleg systems anyhow) there are some knock-offs that play NES SNES and Genesis carts...though some are better quality than others, and I go with official stuff.

true, but in my experience at least it's either working fine or a gray screen, rather than flashing or other crap

flashing is weird and i've only seen frontloaders do that - top loading devices will either boot or not boot, not booting coming often with glitched up visuals due to dust having static charge and diverting the flow of electricity, possibly from one pin to the next.

We had a top loader as well and that sounds about right. That was the most common prob that we had with ours was the glitched visuals. funny how its recommended to blow the dust out but the back of the cartridges advise against it. xD

Well atleast you get rid of the flimsy Zero Insertion Force connector from the original model.
And there's no 10NES chip in it either , so its free from both region coding
and is fully capable of playing unlicensed games :D

arrgg I was playing Puzzle Bobble all day yesterday (I have never been so pissed in my life w/ one of the most simplest games lol). And I...I think I'm starting to really like colorful dino's. @_@

Ah the NES... Some of my favorite games were on that platform. I had both SNES and NES though, so i tend to get them mixed up. One particular title i remember, Duck Hunt, was a fave. I remember standing in front of the TV at my friends with the tip of that rifle pressed against the TV screen. xD ah... good times...

But yes, dinos and video games do go hand in hand and yes, they are ALWAYS cute. xD
