Oh, gosh... that stupid power brick that weighed 10 pounds. They filled the whole thing with epoxy to help prevent the cheap capacitors from drying out. It didn't work.

I finally dug my collection—or what I could find of it—out of the attic this year, and one of them is bulging somehow. Not the caps; the entire brick. Needless to say, none of those computers are getting powered on until I can find or make a replacement power supply. Possibly by gutting the bulging one. Because if nothing else, I'm dying to crack it open to see what on earth happened in there.

Ooh, you're in for a challenge. It's literally a giant pour of epoxy, so bring a hammer and chisel. Since it's an [awful] linear power supply, I believe the 9v AC output is just a transformer and a giant cap, so there's not likely much to see unless the epoxy has already been split apart.

I regret I can only favorite this once.

One of my favorite memories of the C=64 involved finding 3 of them at a rummage sale for like $5. I found enough working parts to make 1 working C=64 out of them! Played some old games, and then dropped the TV on it...
