___
Keep Out
In others' voices I sometimes feel your breath blowing across the back of my neck. Chills go down my spine, racing through the darkened stairwell to the vanity ensnared in cobwebs where your old makeup is kept. As I scour the drawers I'm flooded with desire to destroy the contents, paralyzed by the fear I might accidentally brush away the dust from the shining surface to find a smudge of your rouge across my cheek.
_____
Just an introspective poem as I think about where I am in life at the moment as I reflect on recent conversations.
