And since it's open that Kalita is a biker now, then they can't afford to have her there. Kalita seems conflicted. On one hand, she didn't seem that interested in going. On the other hand, she didn't get the chance of choosing. It was taken from her.

Nit picking here, but wouldn’t the correct terminology be, “My application was denied?” Or “My application wasn’t accepted?”
Because to me, “I lost my application” sounds to me like she misplaced it, rather than the University telling her “no.”
