I could feel it. I could feel it when it finally burst.

My skin had thinned itself out for so long, that in an effort to let itself have some relief, it had to let go. Once free, I could feel my skull exposed.

No blood was bled, for I had none left. I upchucked it with my internal organs and bone marrow as a pink bile.

After it was gone, the implant went to work, replacing the old with the new. What others would count as pain, I simply felt as aches as the bones were liquified and replaced by metal, light, durable, and efficient. It would be a fine replacement for what was lost.

With my old fur and skin now peeling away, I could feel my body growing. Now, it was leaving much easier, and my body could feel various parts of flesh bursting like balloons filled with too much air. My entire body was literally shedding its skin.

It makes no difference to me. It was no longer required anyway. Once this old pelt is fully removed, I'll use the implant to make myself a new one.
