Hometown Pop (WIP 1)
You know on one hand, the angle was, you know, it was red hot, I mean people HATED these guys, and that's your job as, you know, a heel, a bad guy, but they were in many ways a victim of their own success. At first, every time we got some kind of negative reaction, or bad press to what they were saying, we'd just kind of double down, you know, figured there's no such thing as negative attention. But you know...the problems arise when the sponsors get involved, you now, now you've gotta find some way out of this, either pull the plug or pay it off in a way that justifies the means, and well...it kind of fell into our lap actually. We had Dante and Cortez coming in already, though they weren't supposed to debut for another few weeks, that'd give us time to you know, hash out their first storyline and also figure out what we're doing for theme music, but here we had this Pay Per View that would be emanating from South Barclay Island, a massive hometown crowd...it was decided that maybe the best way to handle this situation was to just bring them in on the Pay Per View, and...basically have them steamroll POV. And the big risk we took was to have them cut one more promo in the ring, right before the debut...I mean here we were assuring everyone that we were going somehow tasteful with this and the first thing we do is more of the same in the middle of...freakin' SouthBar. So we needed that payoff to be immediate and...undisputed. And you know, we didn't have time to really work up a good theme so we ended up just shelling out to the rights of the one they'd been using in the other company, but you know that came with the benefit that...as soon as that music hit, we knew that place was gonna go absolutely ballistic. I think...I think the situation could have been a lot more complicated if the decision hadn't been made to put the belts on Cortez and Dante that night.
