Semi-sweet Pizza Bread
2 cups of hot water
2/3 sugar
1 ½ tablespoons yeast
1 ½ tablespoons salt
¼ cups vegetable or olive oil
5 cups of bread or all purpose flour
½ cup pizza sauce (Ragu is what I used)
3 tablespoons of diced onions
2 – 3 cups of diced mozzarella cheese
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons oregano or Italian seasoning
As much pepperoni as you feel is needed
In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in the water with constant stirring. Then add the yeast and stir that in as well. Set for 15 minutes.
Mix the salt and oil into the yeast mixture and stir. Then mix the flour one cup at a time. Knead on a floured surface until smooth. Then set the mass of dough in a bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and set it in a warm-esk area for an hour and 15 minutes.
After the dough has doubled or so, roll onto a greased pan. Flatten out into a rough rectangle. Add the sauce, coating the area evenly. Sprinkle on the cheese and the onions evenly. Add the garlic and oregano, and finally layer with as much pepperoni as you desire. Roll it up and stab it several times across the top in a row. Heat the oven to 350 and pop it in for 30 minutes.
