I believe Michael Maltese, who wrote the story "Real Gone Woody" in '54 for Lantz Studios had done at that time his full contract commitment before going to Warners the next year, and since he was the writer whom dwelt on romantic themes, no more explorations on Winnie was developed in the following years, other than what the comic books could contrive. Sad, but true.
