I presume that an extended lifespan goes along with that as a “sign up bonus”. Mainly cause it’d really suck for him to serve thirty years (or a bare minimum of 11 if s/he wants to be completely heartless) and come out of it late forties to mid fifties. All those years of being a magical commando with all the health benefits that goes with it then it’s all stripped away and suddenly aches and pains everywhere. XD
