In case you can't read the text:
First Panel:
Master Po: "Say Grasshopper, Master Kan isn't here right now. Since he left me in charge, if you can snatch the pebble from my hand, you can go, okay?"
Caine: Gee, are you sure? Okay then Master Po, I'm read--"
Last Panel:
Caine: "Don't mess with me, Master Po. You wouldn't like Grasshopper when he's angry, so don't play games with me." (in-comic text is reflected off of David Carradine's lisp accent he acquired as he got older :b)
Master Po, off to the side: "Okay...sorry Grasshopper..."
~fin~
Lolz...cruddy punny title is cruddily punny. :b
Okay...gonna keep thisshort, maybe. Not really. <.<; Feel free to skip all this though, if you want.
Was inspired after seeing my friend's recent Cake-Fu deviation in tribute to three of our friends' birthdays, and reminded me of the old 70s TV series Kung Fustarring David Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine, that me and my dad used to watch a lot on DVD a few years ago. While I was taking a break from my latest side project (a tribute to Criss Angel, which I have no idea when it'll be finished), I came across the infamous Card Crusher meme ( http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/card-crusher ). And then my mind flashed back to the TV show...and I thought, "Hey...this gives me an idea!"
So yeah, in case you're not familiar with Kung Fu, David Carradine plays Kwai Chang Caine in which the show "follows the adventures of a Shaolin monk, who travels through the American Old West armed only with his spiritual training and his skill in martial arts, as he seeks his half-brother, Danny Caine.
Keye Luke (as the blind Master Po) and Philip Ahn (as Master Kan) were also members of the regular cast."(credit Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kung_F.....28TV_series%29 ) He was taken in and raised by the Shaolin Temple in his youth. Master Kan who heads the temple would continuously take Caine aside and challenge him to "snatch the pebble from my hand". If he could snatch it, it would mean he was ready to embark out on his own and face the real world. It took Caine until his young adulthood to finally complete this challenge. Master Po in the meantime, who nicknamed Caine "Grasshopper", was like a friend and mentor to Caine and would teach him valuable words and lessons of wisdom and in turn Caine would teach them to the people he would meet on his journeys.
While Master Po never did the whole "snatch the pebble" thing with Caine in the series, I made him do it here anyways for the sake of the comic since Master Po is more iconic and well known than Master Kan. The idea just seemed to fit more, and made the idea more humorous.
This comic is just meant to be for personal fun and be a lighthearted tribute to the show and the actors who I loved, despite a visibly rather displeased David Carradine in the last panel. :b Not usually a comic maker, but eh, seemed like fun anyways. And yes I know the "pebble" in Master Po's hand looks like a huge rock, wasn't meant to be that big but oh well, big for emphasis. And don't ask me how David Carradine was able to grow older, grow his hair back, and change his clothes so fast in the last panel. He can because he's badazz like that, so let's leave it at that. :dummy:
Made with MS Paint and GIMP--about 2 1/2 hours.
RIP David Carradine...you were and always will be awesomely legendary.
No comments really necessary, unless you feel like it. :b Doesn't matter to me. Again, just did this for my own enjoyment, and wanted to try my hand out on a meme and a comic both at the same time.
Well, hope you enjoy the crudtasticness...perhaps.
