Aaaaaah, this is really exciting actually! I've been spying your art every time I see one of your comments and I can't help but be curious to see where you might take the concept! I'm glad the site was a good read too considering I feel like the writing got a bit inconsistent seeing as some of the sections were written months apart from each other, but to know that people are enjoying it despite that is really lovely. This really helps explain a lot of what Guarians are, and kinda inspires me to give shape to one, myself...though I cannot draw. I can at least tell how I see it, I guess.

A serpentine form, always switching material (though often prefers a paper-like construction or a plush, comfortable body) upon the outside of which is a series of poems and prose, some appearing upon it and some written on.

This is a really nice read, I'm going to have to read more when I'm less tired since I spotted this late at night, heh. It's really nice to have this sort of information available as guidelines and such. Reading some of this tonight also gave me some ideas of my own. I just wish it was easier for me to get past art block, as any time I've tried to get back into drawing, I end up with art block that stops me from actually finishing anything.
I also like that there's info on some individual guarians, quite a nice touch being able to read how they seem to behave for you and such. I like comparing how I tend to see creatures compared to their designer, as I tend to get impressions that can either be similar, or drastically different, from the designer of some characters.

Deeeefinitely going to have to design Opinicuar now. :D

I swear every person that's into rubber creatures does it purely for porn so I actually felt so out of place for a long while in this fandom... Until now! Aaaah, this is really quite interesting actually! In all honesty, the whole NSFW thing is really complicated for me in the context of my rubber characters since I can't really deny that my own creations have their own sort of NSFW undertones to them as well. That sort of stuff gets even more complicated too since A) the NSFW stuff that I actually am genuinely into is often really bizarre and esoteric and B) I also have loads of completely SFW reasons for loving rubber/inflatable characters as well, to the point that rubber just feels like the correct thing for me to draw in many cases even if I have no kinky intentions with it whatsoever.

Honestly, I could probably go on for pages here BUT WHAT I'M GETTING AT IS, I am actually genuinely really happy you appreciate the guarians in an SFW context. I'm also really flattered you're interested in making some and I'll be curious to see what you come up with!

Huh. Awesome. I've liked these critters for a while, but only saw this just now. I will admit their general facelessness does creep me out a little, though the button-eyes on the plush form of Wereguar is pretty cute, which makes me wonder with the whole 'they appear and act differently to each person they appear to' would include ways to compensate for that, like giving them a 'face' like that purely so they don't trigger the uncanny valley response in whoever they're loving on.

Aaaaah, I had a feeling there might be those out there who are actually genuinely offput by the facelessness. I'm honestly surprised it hasn't come up that much yet, but regardless, I can understand where you're coming from!

I feel like in certain contexts, a guarian could very well show up "pre-faced", especially since it's kind of a part of Wereguar's lore to begin with! Beyond that, there's the whole adornments/markings thing where you could hypothetically just draw a face on your guarian as soon as you meet them which would then permanently remain, but I can understand if that's not as fun if drawing upon a faceless visage is somewhat unnerving in the first place.

Yeah. Unfortunately the uncanny valley can be a very strong influence. Humans are just programmed to see something that looks close to an animal but looks 'off', or like people acting just slightly too unnerving as throwing up warning signs of "Run!", which is why it's used in horror movies a lot. Even just having a doodled-on face does help ease that from what I can tell. If you've ever seen the "Trapped in an Ikea" SCP, part of what makes them so ridiculously creepy is their complete lack of a face despite looking otherwise human.

Though I myself have cerebral palsy, so me trying to draw a face on would be borderline impossible from the hand tremors.
