Anton Popov was a prolific mercenary that began operating after the final war in 2043. He was known to have served in the Russian army during world war 3 but much of his past has been spun into legend. Some even claim that he was a surgically enhanced supersoldier that had escaped after the war.

Popov is considered by many to be the first Independent mercenary and solely responsible for popularizing this post war lifestyle. He was known to be an extremely efficient killer, often taking jobs through internet forums that required him to kill looter gangs and warlords. The global fiat currency system had collapsed during the war when nations targeted international banks and stockpiles with nuclear weapons. This meant Popov sometimes worked just for food, and a place to sleep.

Popov retired from mercenary work in 2055 and subsequently vanished, never to be seen again. Some assumed that he was killed by agents belonging to the newly emerged mega corporations while others thought that he had simply disappeared into the wilderness somewhere in Russia. In 2107 he is considered as a legendary figure, inspiring many to take up the dangerous lifestyle of mercenary contract work.
