Believe it or not, the female symbiote to the left is acutally not trying to use Johnny Foxtails as a host, but rather is trying to save him. Foxtails made the bittersweet acquaintance of bumping into Kia, a self-retained symbiote (no host needed). She happened to sense a dark entity attached to Foxtails, and managed to summon it through probably her specific symbiotic scent that Shadowfox picked up on. Shadowfox in retaliation attempted to secure his prized host by attempted to envelope him...however, in turn Shadowfox found himself in a rather sticky situation, being that Kia is not allowing him to completely engulf Foxtails.

Kia says to Shadowfox: "LET HIM GO!!!"

Shadowfox responds: "NEVER....HE'S MINE!!!"

Little does Kia know that Shadowfox cannot be separated from Foxtails...after all, Shadowfox is merely his shadow...nothing more. It is the shadow that is cursed by the demon crest on Foxtails arm. And as long as Foxtails lives, Shadowfox will always.
