Sometimes when a trauma patient comes in I volunteer to be a runner where I run across the hospital to the Blood bank as the nurse calls to let them know we are doing a Massive Transfusion Protocol. Where a patient is bleeding out and requires lots of blood, plasma, and platelets of varying amounts. This often means I'll be making 3+ trips in a short time to grab ice chests full of what the nurse needs and running it back as fast as possible.
