Kinda reminds me of a situation from the last Battletech game I ran, set a few years before the Clan Invasion, by this point the Pc's (as a Merc Team) where skermishing against the 'Alien Invaders'. One of the players was a Aerospace pilot who in his wisdom decided to strafe a strange looking Rifleman (2c) that was commanding a hill.
He got shredded and bailed out becoming Disspossed for a while.
