This one was a cute YCH I picked up recently by
Dannyckoo and
Ladnelsiya; between the build and the fact that she was obviously looking over the train station, Sara seemed the obvious choice for this one. Just making sure everything is running smoothly.
Honestly, the near-sunset sky is a really nice touch, too.

And using Canada as a euphemism there led my mind along a track based on the old line about 'two solitudes' in Canada, referencing the English and French sides.
Which then reminded me of Angloman, a superhero political parody created by Mark Shainblum, whose base of operations under Montreal was called 'The Fortress of Two Solitudes'. Because of course he went there.
(Angloman, sadly, is like a lot of political humour in that you often need a good bit of background knowledge of the references he's making to really get all the jokes. Like the restaurant 'Quarters' that shows up in one story, where the name is based on the fact that Celine Dion and her husband owned a restaurant in Montreal called 'Nickels'...)

Admittedly, the open platform-and-half-roof sort of layout reminds me more of a lot of the streetcar stops along St. Clair, or a couple of the older Yonge Subway stations like Davisville. Though I suppose most of the aboveground Eglinton stops out east of Laird are going to look like that as well.

Well, it's a Lovely Rumpus-Tush, hers is. <3 You're thinking in the same direction as I am, Jen; haven't been up to St. Clair Station since last December (2020) but the LRT/streetcar right-of-way on St. Clair West out of the station is what I was thinking sat well with the one in Sarah's comfortable-resting picture above, not unlike those on the Spadina streetcar separate railroad south from the Line 1 & 2 station to Harbourfront, and then east to Union Station. Haven't been to Bakka Books off of Spadina on Harbord since the pandemic began, and now that I understand both author signings and in-store browsing is available there again, I'm debating a visit before Christmas; that said, I am still not enthusiastic about being far from home at the moment, so I'm on the fence about going that far right now.
For our fellow FA Furfolk who may not be familiar with the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission)'s local transit system, Line 1 was once called the Yonge-University-Spadina Subway, the first subway in Canada here in Toronto and which opened its original length prior to extensions in 1954. It could be referred to as the 'north-south' subway railroad; the bulk of it is underground. Line 2 is the Bloor-Danforth Subway whose original length was in service by 1966, and it is the east-west subway railroad, stretching the Greater Toronto Area's whole width along two major arteries, Bloor Street to the west of the Don Valley/DVP out to the western city limits, and from the west to the Prince Edward Viaduct, connecting with Danforth Avenue on the eastern end of the Viaduct, ending at the other end of the city and just past the end of Danforth Avenue at the eastern end of the line in Scarborough (the terminus station , Kennedy, being on Eglinton Avenue).

Toronto also has several electric-powertrain streetcar/LRT routes, all of which use negative-transition overhead electrical pickups, and quite a few more bus routes than streetcar lines. The newest LRT- currently closer to the end of construction and testing than beginning- is called the Eglinton Crosstown, and has been in the works for the better part of 20 years (underground tunnel boring and subground station construction included for a considerable span of the route), with its own dedicated railway thoroughfare. It will be the first LRT in Toronto's transit history to use its model of carriages, which can travel freely either forwards or backwards, akin to a subway train.
If Sara was walking around Davisville Station and the surrounding rails, I would be concerned she'd stub her toe and decide it needed 'fixing', given how many spurs and wyes there are nearby. ^_^
That hidden comment was mine, Jen; I'm sorry about the goof. I replied to the original post initially instead of your reply, which I would've intended originalls.

Yes, Davisville has lots of spurs... that was the original train yard when the line was first built just from Union to Eglinton, because there was lots of open space up there, which there wasn't in pretty much any other spot along that route. There's a reason the offices are still there. Which, granted, would be another reason to start the inspection there, I suppose... the company offices are there.
That was my understanding as well; it was what once was Line 1's singular yard; I have old photos taken in the 1950's of some 'demo reels' with models posing in a train on active tracks; likely onboard the original red-hued Gloucester 'G-Type' train cars I loved riding on when I was wee in the late 1970s and early 1980s. And that's why TTC headquarters has Davisville Station built-in, so to speak.

*laughs* Granted, Sara is generally pretty careful about her scent.
Of course, I didn't actually move to Toronto until 1993, though I'd been in town occasionally as early as 1987 or so while I was attending University in Waterloo, especially since a couple of my friends from high school were at Trinity College at the University of Toronto. So in any case I never saw some of that earlier equipment while it was in active use.

Well, fortunately, I have a folder set up as 'Characters - Sara' specifically for her, so that makes it easy. Of course, not all the pictures have her as a giant, but still.. oh, and your icon reminds me, as you may have noticed by now, Tiera has drawn her once. (Hmm, only once, the other seven from her were all Jenora. Have to find something else for her to draw at some point.)
As for fan of trains, I'm... well, I'm not as big a fan of trains as my uncle was. Of course, that's not saying much; when there was a parade of steam locomotives for the 1986 World's Fair in Vancouver, he was one of the dozen or so people who tracked down every major crossing the trains would make and went to all of them.

And what a great folder it is! Even the non macro pics are nice, she seems fun and a gentle giant, my favourite! :) Plus I can't say no to a massive skunk tail! *snugs!*
Neat! I'm not that dedicated a fan, but also Australia doesn't have the extensive history of steam that the US does. I still go to a few steam events when I can though!

Yes, Sara is much more the 'likes to build things' sort of person than the destructive sort.
And gee, with your name who'd have thought you'd be interested in her tail... *grin*
Well, I'm in Canada, not the U.S., but yeah, a lot of the same history applies for trains, and for much the same reason: lots of land, people scattered from coast to coast, and trade requirements. Heck, British Columbia made it a requirement to build a railroad across the country to connect them before they would join the rest of the Dominion of Canada.

Definitely my kind of macro. I do like all these blacksmithing pictures too though, it's a cool hobby, I've always been enamoured with the idea of mining, ore processing, and metal smelting myself! I really need more art that explores this but it's hard because so few furry artists enjoy drawing machinery.
Can't think where you got that idea ;) You're not one of the skunks I see in the Bootie Mashups on VR, are you? I remember seeing you in the chat of course but I don't have SL so I have no idea who is who in the crowd there.
Oh neato! Canada is way better than the US, lucky you!

No, the skunks you see there are normally the twins (ArdyLay and Fureh) and Michi with her top hat. I have Jenora on SL but haven't actually logged in there in years, and would want to get a new avatar anyway since that avatar is old enough to predate the mesh setup. Never set up Sara there.
