LMAO i agree. i got to fire a 30-30 whinchester leaver atchion rifle for the first time on friday the 13th of this month .. 5 rounds.. destoryed a soda can at 280 yards with out a scope, each round back to back. ^_^. my shoulder is still a tad numb from it.
I have been told that the 7.62x39mm M43 round has about the same ballistics as the .30-30 win. My M59-56, a cheap Yugoslavian SKS clone, has yery little recoil (I would descibe it as being a light "thunk"), and it is chambered in this round.
Of course, it is also heavy, gas-operated, and has a muzzle brake (legally required in my state, as it's attachment effectively deactivates it's grenade launcher!) --- these features all stifle recoil.
Of course, it's not particularly accurate. I put 30 rounds down range, with only about 10 even hitting the target board, 20 feet in front of me!
I guess lever-actions are inherently more accurate.
