I think as an artist it is problematic when pictures or chars get stolen. Thou I doubt Yukina has official premission to draw Krystal for example. So don't be afraid of people publishing pics of their fav chars. But as far as I can see it, a watermark is not a solution but a problem. It just ruins the picture. It's like dirt spit on it. Something we the viewers want to get rid of the artwork.
In my oppinion an artist should be able to be recognised by his style. Sure putting your name underneath a picture helps that people can search for your name. And yes that can easily be deleted from the pic by anyone with basic artistic style.
What I want to say is, IF an artists style is unique, THAT is your watermark. And when pictures of famous chars get reuploaded somewhere else, it just is a sign that you draw good. And I think Yukina allready has a very recognizeable style.
And if an artist has a completely generic style there will propably nothing stolen ever..

Yeah, I think it's a backwards issue. The artist shouldn't worry about 'stolen' art, because those that try to claim others' art, especially in the days of Reverse Image Search. Just be proud of what you make, and maybe take the time to include ways for yourself to be reached or identified. But don't disrupt the artwork to do it. Respect the viewer, respect the craft.
I've always been against heavy watermarks or anything obstructing the image. But then again I've also never understood stuff like "Adoptables" as though people aren't allowed to use random doodles as roleplay inspiration. I am a 'creative arts should be open' type of person. I wish the world was different. :3

I just really appreciate the client who paid for me. Therefore only I and the client have the less-watermarked version art. It is for esteeming the client's advantage, and also my gratitude for the client. And I won't interfere with how the client uses my commissioned artwork, as long as their use is appropriate.
I hope my stance makes sense to you.

I understand the commissioner gets an unmarked version.
I just find it depressing as a fan of artwork to be treated with disruption. I know it's a symptom of people's selfishness (art theft, a lack of respect for the art's source, etc) but it's still occasionally depressing to see good art marred by such things. x.x;
The world has become a very selfish place, where money and fame are more important than pursuit of craft and exploration of concepts. I want to be a voice who speaks respectfully against this phenomena.
