This time in our series "Before and now" we take a look at Mechnater, who is the oldest one of the characters I still use.
Originally I created Mechnater back in 2000, but drew him for the first time in 2001. If the picture itself looks unclear, please download it.

But anyway, let's get into this character's history picture by picture:

Spring 2001:
This is the first drawing I've ever made of him and is a scene from an old comic. I even put the original text bubble here from fun. He's shouting "HYÖKÄTKÄÄ!", which is finnish and means "CHARGE!". Originally his name was Dr. Magnet. The inspiration for this character I got from my toys and the moments when I played with them and I especially for this character's look I got direct inspiration of figure form of Lectromag from Biker Mice From Mars and I did copy this figure's looks for him, I admit that.
Originally Mechnater, or "Dr. Magnet" back then, was really basic evil villian from outer space who is dumb, laughs a lot and wants to conquer the world. In the comics I made in 2001 and 2002 he attacks the Pridelands and faced against the characters from Lion King.

Fall 2001:
I gave him new eyes so he could look more mean. Nothing else has changed yet. This is a scene from a comic.

Spring 2002:
New eyes again. I know he looks rather stupid in this picture. Scene from a comic.

Summer 2002:
Now here's some major changes. Where he originally was humanoid, now I changed him to be a lion just like the heroes of these comics (the characters from Lion King- movies). He also got a mane and I removed the black mask covering his mouth. His name also was now just "Magnet", but soon I gave him new name "Megna". Also I put a little bit backstory to him, but not much though. He was now one of the followers of Scar (the villian of Lion King 1) and he is disappointed that Kovu didn't murder Simba and is now trying to kill Simba and her daughter Kiara and conquer the Pridelands.

Spring 2003:
Later in 2002 I created my own characters like Taomi and Seenah (Tuiha back then) for my comic because I got tired of using Lion King- characters and wanted to be more original. Mechnater (Megna back then) remained as the villian though. Also I gave him a new backstory: he was before a lion named Mac, who was Taomi's friend. He got shot from a death ray but survived somehow, but turning into evil Megna (Mechnater nowadays). He still has this same backstory, but much improved nowadays. His look didn't change when the main characters changed, but his look did change in 2003 right on this picture. I gave him back his black mask covering his muzzle and also removed the pupils from his eyes to make him look more scary and cool.

Fall 2003:
On his looks there's not much changes, except I gave him back some kind of pupils to his eyes. But now he like my other anthro-characters learned to walk with 2 legs and use weapons like swords. The sword I gave to him and that he still owns was called "The Sword of Darkness".

Omega Mechnater (Megna) 2003:
I also was planning that Mechnater (Megna back then) would later evolve into a mighty and unvulnerable beast called Omega Megna. I never finished the story where this happens, but I put some of the things from this picture of Omega Megna to his real form later.

Fall 2004:
I removed the pupils again, gave him horns like he had as Omega Megna and also made him have robotic hand and skull armours on his shoulders. He pretty much looked now what he still looks today.

2005:
Not big changes. Just a bit improvement in drawing.

Spring 2006:
I gave him new kind of mask and added much more details and stuff to his armour.

Summer 2006:
Back this time I started to make new version of my old comic from 2002 starring by Taomi. First of all, I changed his name because I found out that Megna would be girl's name. I renamed him Mechnater and I really liked that name and still do because it's the most original name I've ever made up. I also here improved backstory into it's today's form: he is being tortured and killed infront of Taomi's eyes and he was resurrected into Cyberdemon Mechnater in Hell. Also I changed his look a bit as you can see.

2007:
In this time I made some changes in his personality. He's not anymore stereotypical evil villian who wants to conquer the world. He's just full of rage because of the torture he suffered when he died and he thinks the whole Earth with it's population is sinned and must be destroyed. He describes he's bringing us salvation by killing us and so give us peace. Also he never laughs or anything like that and like this he still is today.
On his looks there's not much changes, except I tried here to make his skin to be black instead of purple and also added some pentagrams on his armour, proving that he is a demon and was resurrected in Hell. This picture actually was for a moment here in DA, but I removed it because I've never liked this picture a much and no one else didn't seem to either (it got just a few views and none comments or anything. But that's ok).

2009:
This is the picture that is still here. I improved his looks here and I'm still proud of this picture. He also still looks pretty much like this.

2010:
This is the newest picture I've made of him. I removed his black mask again so we can see his muzzle. Also I gave him a black cape, but otherwise his looks haven't changed a much. Also I showed him here for a long time with his sword. I changed this sword to be a spirit-weapon and named it "Megna" after the name Mechnater had for many years before.
