The beach is so typical for summer... how about spending a more laid-back day at the river instead, where the trees can help you cool down if the water doesn't do the trick? There's gonna be fewer people and less unwanted noise than at the beach for sure, too.
I got myself a couple new brushes recently: a fan brush, a small mop brush, and a detail brush. I... think I used all of them in this one, plus my usual round brush.
The fan brush is surprisingly intuitive to use and makes some nice grass and gave that rough texture to the exposed dirt on either side of the river.
The mop brush was used for the foliage, but I must've pressed too hard on it or left too much water in it, 'cause the result looks more billowy and smoke-like than I'd have liked. I'll keep trying things with it though.
And the detail brush I used for some of the water texture and a few very fine elements of the image like the deer's antlers.
