You do not want to know how long this bloody picture took me! Thank heaven I am decent at looking at photos and drawing them. I used up the last of my sketch book trying to get his head the right shape. Why are clouded leopard heads so different? They kept looking like lion heads. Bah. Oh well I am proud of the result none the less. Still see lots of issues, but he is finally out of my head and in an image.
lots of google image references!! for both the bird and Dorian
Dorian is a dire leopard, thus why he is so much bigger then he should be in comparison to the bird, a treepie. The scaring and missing outer most toe on his hind left foot is the result of being hit by a vehicle of some sort when he was young. He has had a very obvious and painful limp ever since. The bird, having no name since it is just a bird (or so he believes) and so hasn't ever been given a name, has been a unwanted companion for some time. She knows that Dorian's injury makes it so that he cannot get her is she stays on his hips. His agility was taken, but not his aggression. She cannot be killed by other predators is she stayed on his hips. Thus why she does. However they have a sort of symbiotic nature to them. The bird is able to warn him of things that he might not have otherwise been able to avoid until they were too close. Also, though he would never admit it, he does like having another living being in his life. Something he can depend upon and help keep him sane or in his own routine. He has failed to notice that the bird has lived far beyond a normal treepie's natural age. Again pointing to her being something beyond the normal, just like him.
