"High-spined lizard", named after its tall neural spines.
Acrocanthosaurus lands in the carcharodontosaurid genus along with neovenator, concavenator, etc, and is one of the largest theropods discovered so far! It roamed North America during the Early Cretaceous and likely played an apex role in its ecosystem.
