Some gambler decided that Erik´s team (Griffon Lightinings) must not win the next game, because the bets says that will win, and if doesn´t happen, will won a lot of money. Erik is the star of his team , as you know. So with a few calls, a fake report that Erik´s taxi had some trouble and will not arrive to the game in time, some money for several gang members to ambush and restrain the red fox for some hours, and the security that also being released, or at least left alone he would not say much about because the gamblers have too many contacts, even inside the police, had this result

With luck somebody would find him by pure luck and get help. or even rescue by itself!
