Pokemon all over the world have been getting infected with a new strand of virus killing them off, not to mention the poachers were running rampant trying to get their fur, horns and other vital items off them
Thus meaning.. many pokemon in the wild are going extinct.. Professor Pinecoon is working on a serum to revive their specie.

How you ask? By creating a serum to turn healthy people into pokemon, crossbreeding and saving the races.
