OG Details: My half of the Valentines Event Art Trade.
Couldn't do the full comic due to a lot of stuff, so chose one page. The premise is that
MikeMurdock's Viking ppl and my Aureal Ocean folk got together for a winter Olympian type of event- and this was the "Javelin throw" page.
It was supposed to be an appreciation of cultures, where it started in Hertha's, then she'd find and challenge Merwood (more like forced him into it) where they'd start the games competitively, turned buddy partnership, then that hinted more and more to possible courtship or at least admiration of one another. While it may seem Hertha is out of character, this was an actual progression of her opening up which is why she's quite expressive here, she had actually grown to respect and care about him. This was their last game together, with them slowly progressing from the rough and tumble to the more graceful and skilled games. Because Merwood needed a break from the games at this point in the comic, she'd take him to the ice fishing lake was, where the Ocean Folk happened to be Ice Skating. Merwood would ask her to join him on the ice after doing everything her way up to that point. It would be there in the 'ice rink' she could see the skillful and unique culture of the Ocean Folk and understand even if they are very different, they are still just as beautiful, skilled, and strong as her people are, even if utilized in completely different ways.
