I imagine that the stars are actually bioluminescent clusters of cells that can flash patterns and be used to communicate, much like firefly squids do. The kaiju is soft and squishy to the touch but is heavily toxic or has electric cells like an electric eel does. The head, however, is hard and bony, it’s most likely used in offensive ramming if it’s toxin or shock doesn’t work. It’s tail is mostly fat and uses it to go without food in times of shortages.
