The Warden, the Adversary [comm]
>> Original art by
thekyleishere. Go check him out, he's still open for art.
Rumours speak of an entity in the Scapes networks, commonly referred to as the Warden. If you step into the Warden's domain, you will stay there for as long as he lets you. You will be gone for minutes of real-world time, but it is up to him if it feels like entire days, years, or lifetimes.
He could be some form of psycho-technological ghost, or a user operating illegally within the Scapes. There have been reports of users who have not only spoken to the Warden, but unlawfully procured his services.
It is said the Warden's influence can be detected when colour drains away from your environment. However, in all existing accounts, by the time you realise you are in the Warden's presence, it's too late. Those that have returned from the experience have only one common advice: when the Warden tells you to enter your personal cell, you do what he says and serve your "sentence".
>> I'm working on a short story, tentatively titled The Prisoner, which is basically a prequel to Requiem To Nephilim involving Chevise and Alexei. The Warden is the main antagonist. With this I hope to learn to write a bit tighter, and get some practice making a thing where you can't completely trust anybody in it.
