Sadly I didn't get a lot of information on the method, but it could be simply a solution that combats the fungal infection while providing healing agents to the body (in addition to the nutrients through the tube).
I wouldn't exclude the possibility of some nanobots helping clearing out fungal spores and parts too.

True, the tubes provide access to waste disposal, food compounds and oxygen while the patient is out cold for the process with in the solution which is likely soaking into the patents body to saturate them and destroy the fungus.
Once the fungus is removed then likely will need to spend more time for tissue regeneration from the damage the fungus had caused.
